THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE
BUT MAYBE WE RE BETTER OFF NOT FINDING IT

Those at the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute are now writing up what they call the "Declaration of Principles Concerning Sending Communications to Extraterrestrial Intelligence", a document which basically spells out who will speak for the Earthlings when we send messages into space and what that "who" will say.
The following is a list of some of the "humanistic" communiqués we will be sending via radio waves, some with video others with only sound:

] We shall not harm you.
] If harm is done unwittingly, we shall restore your integrity as fully as we can.
] We regard you and ourselves as equals, neither you nor we are superior, neither you nor we are inferior.
] We shall not impair your space, please do not impair ours.
] If we can help you in any way please tell us. It is an ethical principle for us to extend help to you.

What it looks like to me is that we must prepare ourselves for one serious ass whoopin'! This "declaration" makes mankind look like the hippies of the Universe. It's not bad enough extraterrestrials already see us as some kind of Jehovah's Witness sending satellites here, messages there. We are knocking on everyone's door trying to see who's home, and as any intelligent person will tell you, "When the Jehovah's come-a-knocking, pretend you're not home." It's not bad enough to act like a psycho cult, now we also have to act like pansies.
Listen, if extraterrestrial life is not here yet, these are NOT the messages to send!
The SETI Institute claims that if extraterrestrial intelligence does exists, and their technology can travel to Earth, they must be so advanced that violence and other harmful acts are beyond their scope and have "grown passed it."
Fact of the matter is, humans are the most evolved species in the realm of Sol 1, and our life is based on the capability of fighting for survival. That is, humans rule Terra Firma as a result of the process of selection and survival of the fittest. It is not utterly impossible that alien life may also be the product of such an evolutionary process, and thus concepts such as competition, survival, war and violence may be qualities and characteristics of those we invite to our home, Earth.
Well, when you think of it, no matter what messages we send out now, everything that has been on television for the past 55 years has already been seen by thousands of solar systems. Fuck it... I too would want to destroy a civilization that made shows like Blossom, The Fresh Prince and Cop Rock!
We're dead!
