The Complete Interview List

1 - Tell us how your project(s) were started.

Me and my colleague had been involved in the music scene for a while when we started EquilibriuM, either through some small bands, personal projects or cooperations with magazines and such, yet we had not worked together until then although we had been talking about doing something for a long while.

The ideas materialized over a few beers one evening, and curiously enough we were both looking for something a bit different from what we had been doing until then and also somewhat different from what we had in Portugal at the time. The idea and concept behind EquilibriuM Music quickly came to mind to both of us and it was all very natural and spontaneous.

2 - What does music, in it's entirety, mean to you?

Out of all art forms, to me personally music is the one that I can relate to in a closer way, alongside poetry. It's been a close companion in both good and bad times, but also a valuable form of expression that has allowed me to channel emotions into something more than pure abstraction, and also to feed from certains things that I missed, one way or the other. I don't relate too well to the idea of music as entertainment, when it is totally deprived of any emotional elements.

3 - What does art, in it's entirety, mean to you?

I like to think of it as a need. A need to express something, maybe a need to exorcise things that you can't get out of your system any other way. I wouldn't call everything that falls under this definition 'art', but I would say that this is one way of looking at it.

4 - Who is your favorite author, and why?

I don't have a personal favorite, although there are some that I can relate to for one reason or another, at least for a few moments. I also know a few people who can put their thoughts and feelings into paper in a very special way, and who often provide not only comfort but also valuable inspiration. To me, this is more important than having a particular favorite, really.

5 - As your best friend, describe yourself.

I believe I can be a good listener and a good adviser. I really can't think of much more beyond that.. Maybe I'm not such a good 'best friend', hey? hehe

6 - As your worst enemy, describe yourself.

I find it rather easy to realize what hurts people, which together with my rather Calculist thinking can be a good advantage.

7 - If your persona were immortalized as a cartoon character, who would it be?

Maybe Cartman... ? I don't really keep up to date on cartoons, to be honest. hehe

8 - Do you think there are conspiracies against the "everyday person"?

I would say things are what they are. Life, in general, is not easy, but that's the way it is. I wouldn't call it 'a conspiracy', although some things are indeed uncomfortable to deal with. I suppose it has to do with where you live too as well.

9 - What do you do with your spare or free time?

What free time? :)

10 - Please give us your interpretation of "the meaning of life".

It's probably far more simple than most people imagine to be, if there is any meaning at all. I haven't come up with an answer myself, really, but I doubt that there anything too complex behind it.
